In ubuntu 3d effect is not turned on someone has to turn it on.
I will show you here how to turn it on.
Run the Compiz Config Settings Manager
[ In ubuntu 11.04 this setup has given. If it hasn't then setup will be given from Ubuntu Software
center.]
Then from the list of "Category" click on Effects. Now from the right side of the window check all the options.
So now 3d effect should be turned on. That's it.
